The collection is in two parts: I took frantic photographs with a disposable camera, but retroactively shot the same scenes in black and white 35mm with more details and narrative clues integrated. The execution was simple, and the series weaves a brief story of mystery and magical realism. I tried to keep discourse in critique unpretentious; I liked words like “spooky” and, bluntly, “ghost” to add humor to the entire project over any more serious moniker like “specter.”
The original inspiration for the particular imagery was an attraction to urban legends as a tool to examine cross-generational knowledge and oral storytelling.
