My Eyes

necessary supplies:

  • 1 gallon of water

  • 1 shallow receptacle

this is a performance wherein the active subject pours water into his or her open eyes.  to smile into a mirror chemically forces an elevation in one's mood.  to continually pour water into one's eyes exhausts and tenses the body and triggers the physicality of having been crying.  she (the subject) involuntarily gasps and tries to swallow. the subject applies this practice to herself

it is an invisible change in mood // a separate experience for an outsider // a practice in the decadence of sadness
